Dr Pienaar is a man of faith with his beliefs grounded in simplicity, logic and reliability. He is known for is impeccable bedside manner and his acute awareness of his patient’s needs.

History and Qualifications

Dr Paul Pienaar qualified as a Medical Doctor (MBChB) from the University of Pretoria in 1995. Since entering the medical arena he has made great strides in both the fields of reconstructive and plastic surgery. He operated as Senior House Officer for Plastic Surgery at the Mount Vernon Hospital in London where he gained much exposure internationally. Upon returning to South Africa he continued his career in Plastics as Medical Officer at the Dept. of Surgery and Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Kalafong Hospital.

He has immense experience in Vascular Malformation Surgery where he was seen treating hemangiomas and vascular malformations as of 1988. He also served as Registrar for the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pretoria before qualifying as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon (MMed Plast) in 2005. He has since run a phenomenally successful private practice focusing primarily on Cosmetic Surgery and currently resides at the Brooklyn Life Hospital in Pretoria.Dr Pienaar is registered with the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of South Africa (APRASSA)

Consultations

After an initial consultation is completed, Dr Pienaar will quote the patient on the relevant surgery to be performed. Upon acceptance of the quote, the patient is welcome to visit Dr Pienaar for two to three consultations prior to the procedure. This quotation will include said consultations, surgical and hospital fees, as well as anaesthesia if required. The patient will then have ample opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions with Dr Pienaar directly. Pre-operative Guidance and Approach

Dr Pienaar offers patients extensive pre-operative guidance where the patient’s needs and expectations will be discussed in detail. He is remarkably attentive to any complaints or concerns the patients may have, offering the best solution for each patient’s unique needs and circumstances. After obtaining the patient’s medical and surgical history, an in-depth study is performed where Dr Pienaar identifies any risk factors that may be involved. A physical examination is then conducted to ensure that the patient will be able to undergo surgery safely.

Dr Pienaar believes in an honest and objective approach and will discuss all opinions with the patient and answer any questions or concerns they may have. He feels it is also necessary to discuss postoperative care and possible complications, ensuring that the patient is at ease.
